Holley 390 Fuel Pressure

Hey everyone. I recently rebuilt the carb and it still didnt run quite right. Turns out the fuel pump was failing and now died. It was a Holley red (loud as hell). Now Ive replaced it with an inline but I'm not sure what psi is supposed to be at the carb. I do have a regulator but for some reason it wont go under 7 1/2 psi, thus flooding the hell out of it and fouling plugs. It currently will not even start. The new pump is rated 5-9 psi and Ive read through the forum several times and most say between 6 - 6.5 psi. Is this right for a Holley 390 ? And if so I'm guessing I either need a new spring for the regulator or a whole new regulator itself. Thanks for any advice or corrections.

7 1/2psi shouldn't cause it to flood. Id take the needle and seat back out and make sure that there isnt some dirt in there causing it to not seat.

Holley carbs can typically handle 8 PSI without any problem. Have you checked the float levels after the pump was replaced?

well i just rebuilt it and replaced most everything with a tric kit. i set the floats level ( straight horizontal) but I didn't pull the sight screw out to check and see how it reacted. I'll do that. Wait.... the needle and seat aren't the right size. Cause the ones that came with the tric kit were slightly different looking

yup. meant to get on here yesterday and say that's what I did. It fixed the issue. Still running lean I think. I just can't get rid of the cut off idle and the mid range one.
