holley

Im having trouble finding a carb for my 81 12a
Holey doesnt hava a part number, and they only way i can seem to get one is to get it from racing beat.
But i dont understand the difference between the ones they have and the ones direct from Holley. Do you need RB intake for the new carb.

you definatly need a different intake manifold to put a holley, i dont remember what RB does to their carbs, but they do modify them somehow. i have heard from local shops that you can run an unmodified holley also though.

Well, it would be easier to get a RB intake. That way when you replace your carb, you don't have to worry about making a block off plate or the emissions plumming.

I have a RB intake and RB Holley. If you like I can give you the Holley model number?

Question about holley's. I was reading that they will cut out on extream cornering such as autocross or roadracing? Anyone have any problem with this on a RB holley? If I got the set up it would be the bridgeport set up.

I havnt used one, but i have read that one of the things racing beat does to there holley carbs is add there "modified float bowls". This is suppose to help the cornering problem, but not completly remedy it. The float bowls are also availble seperatly if you did buy an unmodfied carb somewhere else.

Okay I still have my holley box..... My 12A streetport RB carb started out life as (info on box):

Model:4160
0-1848-1
465 CFM
Vacuum Secondaries
Square Flange
Integral Choke
1958-60 Ford Mercury
332, 352 Engine
043' 02

I know Racing beat completly takes the thing apart. They drill something on the metering blocks ....tweek this and that....make a nice throttle cable mount and oil metering pump linkage....blah, blah, blah. The modifications are'nt huge, but at the same time they are more extensive than you would think. And Yes you need a new intake manifold (if thats what you meant), the holley won't fit the stock manifold.

Yes they will cut-out, mine does. To cure it you need to convert over to Center pivot Float bowls and then Run a piece of 5/16" fuel line from one vent tube to the other with a slit cut at the top.

They come with standard float bowls, you have to buy the center pivot ones.... I just did and hopefully will be putting them in this weekend.
