Hillclimb with a 12A Bridgeport
Hillclimb with a 12A Bridgeport
Today i went to Teuven (Belgium) for the yearly hillclimb. For the first time a friend of mine also competed with his 1980 SA22C 12A Bridgeport he builded as a trackcar.
It was my task to film it so here we go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pr98BB2WAEo

Nope, engine is fine. He uses parts of 2-stroke oil for extra lubrication. The reason for the smoke is that he couldn't get the bridgeport on the right temperature. Later that day the engine was hotter and almost no smoke. The track was just 2 kilometers.

Thanks everybody,
The car was build by me 5 years ago as a trackcar. It is a project, so every year there are things to improve :-)
The engine is a 12A bridgeport, ported and build by me :-)
The car's weight has been reduced to 700 Kg excluding driver.
some modifications:
-12A bridgeport
-OER carb running premix
-3" custom open exhaust
-13" lightweight racewheels from Compomotive (4x110 8" front, 4x110 9" rear)
-Hankook full slicks
-fully stripped , custom wireloom (only what is needed to run the car)
-Bosch 044 fuelpump + regulator -->6.5 PSI
-Cryo treated stock brakediscs front and rear drums
-Hawk MT4 brakepads
-6 puck stiff race-clutch
-Racingbeat main pully
-Mazdatrix large waterpump pully
-STOCK radiator :-)
-MFR race oilpump
-Polycarbonate windows (except front windshield)
-40mm lowering springset
-sidemounted alternator
and a lot more!
The engine is a PITA to start because of the OER carb and the NGK B10.5 EGV's
But when it warms up it is going like crazy!
I'm normally running it on the racetrack, Zandvoort (NLD), Assen (NLD), Zolder (B) and some small track in Germany.
This was a Hillclimb, just to try it once, see how the car would run on the 1750 meter long track with the 7% incline
My best time was 1.06 minute, wich was very supprising considering the winning time of 0.59 (from a official WRC Rallycar Skoda Octavia :-) )
I guess weight is everything !

@ drivefast7: I know, but there isn't always the time, thanks for the tip anyway!
The wheels are custom made lightweight racingwheels by Compomative (http://www.comp.co.uk/)
4x110 8JJ 59.6mm centerhole and ET -17 (ET is offset i think)

Very nice buildup man! Can we get some more details on the suspension setup? Swaybars, shocks, springs, etc.?
Also, I notice you're running drum rear brakes, so no limited slip rear end (or did you combine parts)? If you don't have a LSD, then get one, you'll love the difference it makes. And the rear discs are an excellent bonus as well.
Again, very nice work.
