Highway RPMS?

Hello, I'm trying to decide what final drive ratio I want for my Toyota 8" swap and I was doing the calculations for rpms and I think I'm missing something? According to the calculator with my current believed ratios according to mazdatrix for an 85' GS I should be doing almost 100mph in 5th at 4k rpm, currently I'm doing about 76 mph in 5th at 4k rpm. Either the gear ratio calculator I'm using is wrong or something is different. Now the funny thing is the speed/rpm start to make sense assuming I have 4.77 gears like out of the Kia sportage diff. Did some ******* put kia sportage gears into an otherwise completely stock base model car??? Am I missing something? What rpms are you guys at on the highway?

My SA gets to 80 mph at 4000 rpm in 5th gear. Your calculator is flawed is my guess. I think your values for the gear ratios is off. Check it out on https://mazdatrix.com/transmission-a...-ratio-charts/

Back to the OP, I think only FCs ever had 5th gears that tall. 12A cars usually had .807 or .858 or somesuch.

Ok all of our cars are 1:1 in 4th so I'm gonna just use 4th now. At 4k rpm in 4th I'm doing about 60, is this right?

Dont forget to factor in your wheel/tire size or your rolling radius. I run an 05' rx8 6 speed with a 4:44 rear gear in my rx3 but only run 15in wheels with 225/40/15 tires on the rear. I turn about 4300rpm at 80mph

the 84 GSL-SE had the 4.xx final drive with the .758 5th, in 1985 it gets the 3.9 and the .715 5th
