high pitch squealing from front cover/of engine
so i had noticed this noise at an idle before not often but once in a while, and assumed that it was a bad alternator, the car still charges right and i usually only use it for driving around town /and to work so if the alt were to die it wouldn't be that big of a deal to replace it wherever it stopped. but it seems to have worsened so i swapped in two alts and still have the same noise, next i thought of my water pump, its got some good use on it so i disconnected all the belts, started the car so that only the dizzy and main pulley are moving, still squealing, this motor has almost 30k/40k km on it since rebuild, and no other issues have happened, i have no performance/fuel mileage loss, but am planning on going on a road trip (roughly 5000km+) in a couple of weeks and am pretty worried about this being front main bearing related, and don't want to have to assemble/tune my other motor prior to this trip.
any suggestions or anyone seen this before as its new to me and i know its not the water pump/alt so its likely something big and inside.
thanks for any suggestions

tried another dizzy with a re greased shaft, and timing checked, sounds like either the front cover bearings/main bearing, as the noise persists, is it worth it to check into the front cover, the needle bearing assembly on the eshaft in the front cover, or is there any thing else i can check before assuming its main bearing, i dont even know what it would sound like with a gone front bearing.
oil pressure is always good and changed every 5k km, so i dont think its the main bearings?????? i hope

no worries as of now about the bearings. unhooked the new(old one wouldn't rev beyond 6k anymore, like it had a limiter, but it never made the distributor make noise like this one) msd 6a box and it sound as it should, now to figure out whats up with the msd causing this noise?

mine did the same thing for a while a water pump and an alternator later i realized it had a very small air leak on the intake manifold gasket. tightened it and it instantly went away.

thanks for the suggestions, and i apologize for not letting you all in on the set-up, 12a, IDA 48, so cant run emissions, so no air pump, have checked for vac leaks all round, only the little air let in through the pcv valve gives it a bit of a bounce at idle, no problems there, as for timing and preformance/fuel economy, all is good, bang on where it has been for over 20k km.
i have found through many tests that the new msd box that i have is causing this noise, on multiple dizzy's(so i'm guessing dizzys not the issue) i still have my old msd box that "works" and i am going to try this one out again later to see if it causes a similar noise, if no noise from the old, off to performance shop for defective replacement
