Exclamation High Oil Pressure

Hey Fellow Members,

I have an 84, 12a. I bought this car from a one owner. Its nearly in mint condition. Anyway, I just noticed that my oil pressure is very high. When driving around it reaches 110, and at idle it settles around 70 to 80. If anyone out there can help my baby out I would greatly appreciate it. For the moment she is sitting in the garage until I get her fixed, THANKS, sprayer.

you can unthread the oil pressure sender and install an aftermarket oil pressure gauge temporarily to see how accurate your oem gauge is. also, as a note, have you checked your oil level? is it overfilled?

You'll need a BSP to NPT adaptor.

Could the engine have been worked in the past? High Oil pressure is something we do on purpose.

+1 on checking the connection to the sender, take the lead off and it should read zero.

I have the exact opposite problem, I did a filter change to a purolator and my pressure dropped from 80psi idle to like 65psi. It's enough of a drop to make my oil pressure light on my tach light up, Kinda annoying at night, lol.
