high idling bridgeport.
hi,im new to this forum and find it great!! i have recently bought a canary yellow series 2 with a 12a bridgeport..now,having never owned a bridgey b4 i havwe a question...my motor has around 12,000kms on it according to the pile of reciphts i got with the car...runns real strong..but idles at around 1800rpm!!! now i know bridgeys idle high but this high?? a good rotary shop here built the engine in august 2004 but have since relocated to another city so that rules out stopping by to see them. the recipht 4 the motor rebuild says : extend primary bridge" anyway..thats my question/worry..oh and the dizzy is fully advanced, this normal 4 a bridgey?? also theres no longer any vaccum lines hooked up to the vaccum advances..doesnt bother it..motor is completly de emmisioned. hey thanks 4 any help you guys can give me. regards mike

You want a bridge to have a nice solid lope at idle. When I lowered the idle rpm's it studdered and hiccuped.
Your timing greatly depends on what material apex seals, size of ports, and intake system. Dynotune to be sure. Ceramics like more timing. Mine is set to 27.5* total advance on the leading, no vacuum advance. centrifugal only.

I don't know who mods the Nikkis down under for a bridgey, but it does take a bit of work. How smooth does the car run under under 3k at steady state cruising, is it smooth, herky/jerky? My 1/2 bridge is gutless under 3k and jerky under 2.5k when trying to cruise. At 4k the power starts showing, at 5k it rips. I'm running a Mikuni.
