High elevation cars
Quick question for anyone with an answer. Does the gas gauge sender for a Colorado car differ from a Texas car. The body I picked up to replace my prev rex is from Colorado. I put the gauge cluster from my '79 into this '80 body and now my gas needle reads too high,ie. it reads a 1/4 of a tank when it's actually empty. Any way to tie in a resistive load to correct the signal?

An interesting thought. I kept this cluster because I had completely detailed it including repainting the needles. It read correctly in the '79 but doesn't in the '80. I'll pull it out and see if bending it relative to the spring and shaft will set me up. Thanx for the tip o' th day!

When pushing the needle towards empty, you'll notice the spring compressing... when you release the needle it'll pop back to wherever it wants to sit. Just keep compressing the spring (by lightly pushing the needle) until it sits just below the redline when released. Hey, if your car is running a little hot, here's your perfect oportunity to "fix" that problem! LOL ...heck, might as well set that oil pressure where you've always wanted it too!
