High altitude and a carburator?

I am driving from Cleveland Ohio to Colorado Springs in my 82 GS. Going to be running on the nikki to get the car out and until the MS unit is done. My only concern is how drastic of an effect will i see with the altitude change? It should GET me there at least correct? Then i can tinker accordingly?

I've driven my stock '80 SA at over 8,000 feet with no problems at all. There's an altitude compensator built into the stock carb/manifold design, which is basically there to provide additional air bypass.

You'll feel a little power loss, but if the car's in reasonable tune and in stock condition, you should be fine.

i am well aware of the powerloss. We took my friends honda out last time. It went from sad to hard to merge into traffic.

+1

Been between Minnesota and CO several times, no adjustment needed if the car's running well.
