Hi there!
Hi all,
Just want to take this time to say "Howdy". This is my first post on rx7club.com. I just purchased my 1979 RX-7 (12A) this past saturday. I only paid $425 (<-- not a typo!) for it! Right now it is basically stock, but that will soon change. My other vehicle is a 1994 Mazda MX-6 LS. Both of these are awesome cars IMO.
Laters,
Skylance

Welcome to the most adictive place on the 'net. There is a lot of info that can be found here, spend some time reading about various items, and you can learn quite a bit about these unique cars.

It is my first rotary. When I took it to get inspected one of the mechanics asked where I got it. When I told him, he informed me it had been sitting at the used car lot for almost 2 years. I feel so lucky that it did not get snatched up! I've been doing some reading, cuz the RX-7 is in need of some serious TLC. There are several rust spots/holes ( ), the paint is horrible, somebody put a VERY crappy tint on the windows (bubbles everywhere), the dash is cracked in several places, needs a shift boot, needs new panels on both doors, both seets need to be replaced/re-upholstered, etc, etc.
Enough of the bad. I have already fixed the horn (required for our state inspection), and the passenger side pop-up headlight that was stuck. Fortunately the car is mechanically sound (for now). Had a motorswap for a rebuilt 12A less than 20k miles ago, and it runs and handles great. No problems starting (except it needs a battery).
Thanks everyone!

Dam Shelby, You would have thought that one of my Buddies would have told me about it, Expecialy if it had been sitting there for 2 years.
Any pics?
I am From Rutherfordton and keep my parts cars there.
Check out my site. www.matthewnanney.com
Check to make sure the spedo cable is connected to the trans.

The cable is connected correctly, but it appears that the spring was overwound at some time. I could also use a lock assembly for the hatch - just the part that attatches to the hatch. It is missing on mine.

Shelby is fine, Just I was so close to the car and no one told me about it. I seached for a 79 for two years before getting the first one.
I Have a very good looking 79 guage Cluster I might sale. Do you have an 80mph spedo or a 120?

Keep it stock, man. 79s are becoming valuable, and a stock 79 is a gem for any 7 fans stable. I have my eye on a local 79 siting in a guys driveway under a tarp and I'm just waiting to get some of these other cars taken care of to make a move.
Does it have a moonroof?
What exterior color?
Original stamped wheels?

OtakuRX: Interior is a Burgundy, so maroon may work.
bliffle: It has a sunroof - I think it can be fully removed, but I haven't tried yet.
Exterior color is White, but it is in horrible condition, In many places, it is peeling/rusting. It looks as if there is a red coat of paint under the white
I have no Idea about the wheels, what should I look for?

bliffle: According to Hades12's pic, I don't have the stamped wheels.
Hades12: Sunroof is not glass, and yeah I can take it out. Also, any news on the guage cluster?
Thanks people

Well there are only three more stock wheels that it could have 79 limited, 83 limited or Steel.
they could be aftermarket. Pics and we will know for sure.

Welcome...
It is kinda funny how many people are buying a 25 yo car for everyday driving.
I couldn't imagine buying a 1964 anything to use a dd back in 1979.

rbf41182gt : at least you have a garage to work in. I gotta tote all my stuff outside.
1985_RX-7 : not those wheels either
Hades12 : Hopefully, I'll get pics soon. I don't have a digital camera. I might get one next payday. Anyone have any suggestions?
BLKTOPTRVL : Right now mine is in the project/restore category. As for those who are buying them for daily driving, You do what you gotta do. I know all about that.
