Help with a wire I don't know where it goes

I am not sure what the Red or black wire goes to.

When I started working on it the coils were wired backwards and the red was attached to the - on one of the coils.

The car is now running but it very rough.

There are no red/black wires in the diagram! Where do those wires go?

Looks like you're dealing with someone else's previous mod, there.

Looks like there's a fair amount of non-stock wire in that area, in fact. Try posting your year and build level, and you might find people here who have good photos of what it would look like stock. That, and the wiring diagram, may help you reverse-engineer the previous changes.

Good luck.

84 SE The wires go into the harness and disappear.

It had a Direct fire setup on it from 3rdandfinal7 but the guy I sold it to had a problem and took it off then sold the car to another guy that fiddled with it more and then I bought it again and have sold it but told the new owner I would help.

It runs without the wires but is very rough, they may have fiddled with other stuff also.

I would put a tester on the red and see if its hot 12v.
The other one is probably a ground. do a continuity test and see if it is a ground.

i also had a electric airpump wired up for the 5 and 6 ports is that still wired in? and is the summit racing rpm switch still wired in bc if not those might be for the wiring of the switch which in turn turned on the pump.

i also use to have a switch wired in for the fan to turn on and off when i please sense it was wired to run when the key was on.

edit: i ll check on this in the morning and Matt if you need to call me 707 315 4526 just remember im 3hrs behind you so dont call to early

Yea it is the same car, still has the wheels on it, only change was the fellow pulled the Direct fire and messed up the wiring for the coils.

The RPM switch is still there but I disconnected it until we could sort out the coils. I now need to find directions on connecting it again. Not sure if it connects to + or - on the coils.

I thought the fan still worked but I will listen just to make sure.

I have sold the car twice so far and almost bought it back two weeks ago.

i would offer to post a pic myself but my SE isnt 1st gen wiring anymore its got a 88 NA block with a turbo on it and im running everything from 2nd gen.

like i said i did have a switch hooked up at one point for the fan to turn it on when i need it. i can remember where the switch was wired up. i think that i wired it into the stock fog light switch but dont quote me on that. i also cant remember it i stopped using the switch.

for the RPM switch i believe that it on the trailing neg bc that is where the tach signal comes from.
