with my 85 gsl-se i just hit the hose with a knife an inhaled as deep as i could...no jk if its charged dont do that...atleast dont inhale it. then go and start unhookin all the line and take out the condenser in the front and unbolt the pump. thats what i did i dunno if the setup is really diif or not. i mean its not rocket science i did the same thing in my truck except i use it as an air compressor cuz i 4wheel...only thing i didnt remove was the lines running into the car cuz they ran into somthin..i 4get what it was but if u take it out u have a hole in the air duct.

yeah i saved about 40 pounds taking mine out. Its pretty easy. after you release the pressure (technically you should get this done at a shop because its not so great releasing this stuff out into the atmosphere) then you just start cutting up the lines, remove the pump and pump bracket, and the front condensor, then theres two lines that go through the firewall...just cut them there and plug em up (at least thats what I did.) you can remove more lines inside the car behind the dash if you want, but its a lot more work for maybe a couple less pounds.

mine was empty, real easy to remove, just follow the lines and unhook them, its a no brainer

You don't have to cut the lines, just disconnect them. For some reason the fittings on my hoses were in U.S. sizes (rather than metric). So make sure you have some big Standard wrenches.

Just pop the hood and take a look at everything you have to remove and think of the most logical way to do it (so you dont go disconnecting lines that you don't have to).

ps. if you try and you really need help let me know, i have some pics of the whole process.

I have the above auto, converted it to 134, but lost the charge. I am the original owner and somewhere along the way the spec sheet on the hood went missing. I can't find any info on how much 134 the systems should or should not hold. None of the local dealer service depts will give me an answer. Can you help me out?

I think it will fall with in + - 20% of the original R-12 charge quantity. I'm sure there are some here who have done it that can add to this.

The A/C has gotta go. I removed all A/C components, brackets, nuts bolts, etc.. and it was one of the better mods I've done. It really lightened up the front end, and makes my passengers head slam back in the seat alot more (heh heh heh). Also my car always runs very low temps- barely above the second temp gauge mark all day long. And when your done you can sell your ac components $$$$$$$$$$ Ive ported my engine, added all the bolt ons, but the biggest gains seem to be from ditching extra weight.
