help with suspention upgrade\replacement

OK I have asked around[torque central, and the other engines section] and and nobody has given me an answer,so Ill try in the 1st gen forums.

I have an 83 fb and the struts and shocks need to be replaced, the local tire and general repair place says they are worn out,I trust these guys, family has been using them for the harder repair jobs and to check out vehicles, they wanted to charge I think 300 or so bucks to replace them[including parts]

I know of a local part tinme mechanic that said he would help me replace the struts and shocks for like 20 bucks,if I bought the struts, and shocks.

THe problem is what brand of struts\shocks should I get?I don't plan to autocross or anything,I do plan on doing a v8 swap, this year and jsut screw around and maybe take it to a drag strip but that would be it.Would the standard shocks be good?can they handle the weight difference of hte v8?or should I use after market?the TOKICO blues everybody reccomends are like $450,more than I can spend[saving money for the swap]The stock shocks and struts are $172 for the whole deeal.I also found these on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOKIC...QQcmdZViewItem

What should I get?
thanks

Tokico illuminas are the minimum I would ever recommend, blues are not much more than stock, personally I bought Koni reds from eBay for $110, for the front and used tokico illuminas for the rear, also do your springs as they always sag, i recommend Eibach but others are out there

Do the install yourself, there's lots of threads on this in here and it isn't very difficult, I did it.

I need to do shocks, and plan to use Tokico ($184 on eBay). Also plan to put on a set of Racing Reat springs at the same time (about $300).
