When I changed the fuel pump and filter yesterday, the fuel bled red!! Is their a cheap gas tank replacement available? What are my options with this problem?

outside of salvage/junk yards, i'm not sure where u'd find a "cheap" replacement tank. since u didn't state what model 7 u have, i know the 1st gen has a drain plug. some radiator shops can do gas tanks.

I had/have the same problem. Take it down and have it boiled and sealed by a local shop. Should be less than 100 bucks. Also while you have it down, check the outside of the tank for rust. If so you want to sand all the rust away, I recommend a palm sander with some sixty grit. Then you can paint it so surface rust doesn't eat into the tank itself. There are lots of other ways to get rid of areface rust just search around.

i dont think there is a cheap way to replace it. you can try putting in a fuel cell but that has its own set of issues. i had the same problem with my car. my tank was so rusted that it clogged up my fuel filter and choked up the engine. when i change the filter, it bled red like you said. i found a place here outside of houston that does gas tank restoration. the owner says he has alot of "out of state" customers. its pricey but they give a lifetime warranty. they sand blasted the inside of the tank and coated the entire tank (inside and out) with an epoxy. it look like a brand new tank when picked it up. you might want to replace your fuel lines also. mine were pretty bad also. you can use 5/16 aluminum brake line from autozone for that. i did it and it works like a charm.

Por15 makes a fuel tank epoxy coating for dealing with rusted fuel tanks.

Can I replace the gas tank in a GSL SE with a tank from a 12a car without major modifications? My tank has a crack somewhere and I rather just replace the tank.

Nevermind, I found my answer

i removed my gas tank on my gsl-se, flushed it out, filled it with water and cut a huge square off the top. then i took it to the carwash and blasted all the rust with the pressure washer and scrapped some of the harder to reach spots with a wire brush. took it home filled it up with water again and welded it shut.. this tank was fucked with rust
