help from the rotary gods...please 13B?
i found a 85 GSL-SE motor i belive its a 13B fuel injected, i want a single big turbo 13b in my 82, could i use this motor as a starting point, but the REW intake and other parts to make this 6 port motor run strong? if im not mistaken isnt it the same basic motor as used in the later RX's? if so i can get the motor for 350 and thats a steal cause i want to build the motor from scratch... any help would be great

no you cant, the bolt pattern for turbo exhaust manifold and intake manifolds are all different, also se engine is to high compression to get really serious about doingbig turbo. the REW intake manifold will not work at all because you have a 6 port engine, all turbo engines are 4 ports.

Agree with the above - the 6-port engines are designed for NA airflow, only, and adding a turbo, you're going to run into serious problems with airflow management.
To run a big turbo, you'll need a 4-port engine with intake ports that have been hogged out to help handle the increased pressure and flow smoothly. '6'-port engines were never designed for this, hence why Mazda went with a 4-port on their TII factory turbo cars.
The 13b RE-EGI engines are a good find for a NA conversion as long as you get the ECU harness, and the engine is in good shape, otherwise, you're likely better off going with a TII that has the lightened rotors and other modifications that Mazda designed into the factory turbo. HTH,
