Help - replaced starter, car won't start

Ok, so yesterday I had to replace my starter. Replacing it was easy, except I had to fix a wire that broke. It ran fine yesterday, no problems at all - fired up great like it always does.

This morning, I get ready to leave for work and it won't start. No grinding, no attempting to turn over, nothing. Turn the key and there's just silence. It's not the battery, it's got power. Any suggestions?

All of the wires are attached. Everything else has power - gauges, radio, lights, everything - so I don't think I grounded out. C'mon, guys. Someone's gotta have ideas. Is it possible I fried the new starter somehow?

I don't think you fried the starter. check your fuses under the dash.

Fuses are all good. Connections to the battery are good. Maybe I got a bad replacement starter? After work, I'll take it off & have it tested.

Any other suggestions?

Have the starter checked. Its possible your ign switch has gone out. WHy did you change the starter in the first place? Intermittent operation?

Started out intermittent operation, then went to that nasty grinding sound, then just stopped working altogether. Hmm... ignition switch - how'd I know if that went out? Key turns, when it does it cuts out the radio and stuff...

Thoses are the signs of a starter going out. You know lots of people have at least 10 lbs of keys on there key rings. You know what kills ign. switches the fastest.....
tons of keys on the key rings.* While the starter is out,
put a meter on the battery cable that goes to the starter
and see if thats good, while your there.

If it acts up again, jiggle the key while trying to start it. See if it starts that way.

When I changed the starter, I had the same problem. It took me forever to figure it out, finally I nailed it down to the battery clamps, changed them, starts everytime now.

Thanks, everyone, for your help. Fixed the problem - there were actually two.

Like I said before, one of the wires broke (at the quick connect), so I'd spliced in a new one - guess I didn't go far enough back to get good wire for a strong connection, so I redid that. And that damn little sensor wire popped off - put it back on, still didn't work, so I cleaned it - BAM - works fine now.

Again, thanks for all the help & suggestions!
