Help needed in installing aftermarket stereo

Does anyone know the stereo wiring color codes for a 85 GSL? I think it's the same for the GSL-SE. I'm planning to install a aftermarket cd player in the car. When I bought the car, the factory stereo was taken out by the previous owner. I can't find the 12v power and constant and remote. I've tried using a voltmeter but still can't find it. It must be hidden somewhere. Hmm...any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know the schematics because my Haynes is buried in a moving box. My Sony head-unit's leads all go to the fuse box directly and I've had no problems whatsoever. This includes the leads for the two Sony XME-110 EQs in the photo....

The single pin connector is the constant, (i think blue/yellow?)

The 3 pin is the acc (+), pwr ant., and the dimmer lead...

The only one I know of hand for that is red/blk (thats the dimmer lead)

If its the amplified system, you are gonna need to run wires to the speakers. If you dig back a little behind the radio (amplified version) there will be a 4 pin white plug. Thats the front speakers... The rear ones you will either run wire to, or pull out the storage bins and go straigh to the amplifiers output...

Unless you have experience with car stereos and amplified ones at that Id recommend taking it someone who knows what they are doing...

When Im at work and have to work on cars where someone has ran wires to the fusebox, it makes me mad, Its rather confusing to see where what goes. Also why run wire when everything is right there staring yuo in the face?

That sounds like an FC wiring setup. I wouldn't know the FB one, every one I've had some ******* has cut the plugs off

Yea...that's the problem. The previous owner cut all the plugs off. I just plan to not use the factory amps. I'm going to rewire all the speakers directly to the new head unit. Just needed the info for the constant, acc, pwr ant, and dimmer. Hopefully the info from MIKE-P-28 is for the FB. Thanks alot.

I had to figure them out with a multimeter. I forget the colors though.

Yelp you right sorry guys, I just went outside and looked really quick. I got my 4 year old and he has to go whereever daddy does, so I only looked at it for a few seconds...

Only one I could see real quick was the ign/acc one. It goes into the blue/white on the 6 pin plug... I'll check it later tommorow when his momma has him

I have put in literally thousands of headunits, but Mazda isnt one I do on a regular basis.

Id say your on the right track with the DVM, sounds like there are some fuses blown...

I'll get the correct wires tommorow nite..

Oh by the way the factory power ant is negative trigger not positive trigger. You will have to wire a relay...

85 goes to the radios pwr ant (+)
86 and 87 to ground
30 goes to the cars power ant. wire
