Help needed.... Do you know what kind of Carb. it is?

Hi All

I recently got a carb, that as far as I been told, it's out of a RX7's engine. I have no idea what year or model...

Does anyone here can tell what type/model/cfm this carb is?

Thanks a lot ;-)

Lior, Israel.

If that was taken off an Rx7's engine, then it's definitely not stock.

All first generation Rx7s came with nearly identical carbs (except for a few emissions changes and minor mods here and there). That carb is definitely not one of ours. At least not stock.

Hopefully someone can give more info.

I dont know how much you can sell it for but I used to replace those RX-4/REPU/RX-5 carbs with a pre-RX-7 12-A carb. If the intake manifold has a reversed runners, then the manifold is worth keeping.

Early 13b Carbs

I just posted a reply on a similar subject here, reply number 20:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...2&page=2&pp=15

The early 13bs used one style of carb on the 74-75 and a different style on the 76-78 models. I never bothered to look for a brand name, but I guess this must be the explanation, Hitachi vs Nikki. I have examples of both sitting on the shelf, I will have to take a look. Learned something new here. In a given year, I am pretty sure the exact same carb was used on the RX-4, Cosmo Coupe and REPU. As I mentioned on the other thread, I know that a few RX-3s were made with this carb, but they are very rare.

As for what to do with it, this carb is a very good inexpensive upgrade for an early RX-7 if you are driving on the street and just want a small increase in power without all the hassles of driveability you get with some of the aftermarket setups. You have to build an adapter for the intake manifold, and then take a die grinder and blend a smooth transition from the larger bores of the 13b carb to the smaller bores of the 12a manifold.
