Hi i have an 1984 rx-7 Gsl-se and i have been having trouble finding the right parts or parts period for my car. I want to rebuild my engine i have a stock 13b i believe and would just like to know what to do with it some people tell me to put a carb. on it and some tell me to leave it FI. If you could tell me whats best for me and where i could get parts for my engine. I also need rear calipers for it and cant find any for a desent price anywheres so i would appreciate it if someone would help me out..

thier is a couple of options you could go
1, hard core dragger
2, work car
3, street racer

1 and 3 will cost you but all 3 depend on your mechinical abiltlys, i never even worked at cars at all i bought a manual and a seal kit for my 1980 12a and rebuilt it by myself heheheh i would keep the fi and chip the **** out, port it, put a 2-3 inch exaust on it , on the parts i would go with victoria british they have exactly what you need and most of time alright prices, i would also look into junk yards they can be your best freinds go to a big city if you live by one and they are sure to have a similar rx-7!!! much luck and pm for further help/questions

This site is your friend. The "For sale" section on the front page of the forum can get you any part you need used, and there's tons of vendor links on here too. Here's a couple of quick answers:

1) I would leave your car fuel injected, though there's a lot of carb lovers here, I've found that my fuel injection system is much more dynamic and flexible since I put in the megasquirt (engine management system that costs about $250 to build).

2) I recommend the Bruce T. "How to overhaul your Mazda 13B Rotary Engine" video, availible from rotaryaviation. It's a great DVD that walks you trhough how to rebuild your engine. Do this before you even remove your engine.

3) Your calipers can most likely be rebuilt. There's rebuild kits availible, and they're really not that complex

Good luck!

I'd keep the FI as well. I have an 85-SE, and have driven both a FI and a Carbed 13b, I liked the FI better. But, I think it's mostly a matter of opinion.

As for internal engine parts, people seem to like Atkins Rotary

www.atkinsrotary.com

They sell complete rebuild kits, and several different versions some I believe are just gaskets and the such, others are apex seals, corner seals, gaskets, springs and all sorts of crap.
