Just search. Too many threads full of information that shouldn't go to waste. If you're interested, I have an OER 47mm new carb I can sell you. Here's what it looks like:

I will offer you two pills. The red pill answer the question "can a weber 48 IDA out beat a sterling carb." But the blue pill simply for life to carry on as before. how boring

I'd recommend searching here bro. There are many carb choices but they are all pretty different. Decide what your primary desires are any what type of perfomance you are looking for.

You'll be lucky to get anything close to a definite answer on this. As Super82 said figure out exactly what you'll be using this carb for, and go from there. Your options as I remember them are 4Barrel: Holley, Sterling, Edelbrock. I've never heard of any others being used. A Holley you can get through Racing Beat, modified to work on the rotary. A Sterling is a heavily modified tuneable Nikki (stock 12A carb). I have one and love it. I know nothing about the Edelbrocks and what has to be done if anything to get them running on a rotary. Then theres the 2 barrel group: Dellorto, Weber, Mikuni/Solex. I've probably missed one but those are what I remember. Start off by searching through this site and doing your own google searches on all those carbs. Your likely to gain more unbiased knowledge about them that way. These threads usually end in arguements since everyone has an opinion and not every has personal experience with all carbs available. There are pros and cons for every carb out there, so it's up to you to decide what fits your application best. Generally a 2 Barrel carb is for racing or high RPM fun. A 4 barrel is more of an over all performer. They generally have good low, mid and high range. Like all carbs they can be tuned to perform better in certain sections of the powerband. Honestly your best bet is to stick with EFI and toss some ITB's on there. Sam(dj55b) swapped from a carbed 12A to a EFI ITB'ed 12A and it performs very well once you get the tuning finished. Look up his threads to see whats involved.

And Wacky, I'll take the blue pill. From what I understand you have yet to drive a Sterling powered car (correct me if I'm wrong), and an old fart like you is probably set in his ways :P J/K. I have yet to drive a 2 barrel powered car, but do plan to get one in the future when the rest of the car is taken care of, so I can change it up with the Sterling and see what all the hubbub is about. Might be nice for the drag strip.

The real questions is; how many of these threads must we go through every week?

Efi

Maybe you should consider asking for help to get your factory EFI sorted out?

get someone knowledgeable to tune it. Is the afm flapper stuck open? Does the throttle position sensor need adjusting? I personally like the edelbrock.

combined with a cold air intake system

I wouldn't mind trying an OER 47mm. Basically an improved, boost-prepped DCOE. However, Sidedraft carbs are kind of inconvenient IMO, so I'd probably stick with the tried-and-true 48 IDA.

For those talking about Sterling carbs, those are more or less ruled out for him, because he has a GSL-SE.

Yea. A 47mm OER or a 48 IDA would be good for him.

I would suggest the racing beat upper with a suitable side draft and keep the 5th and 6th ports functional.

This way it is an easy upgrade to go with a carb'd blowthrough setup in the future.

Actually a Sterling is a perfectly acceptable carb to put on a 13B. All he would need to do is find a 13B carb manifold. They are out there and a Nikki will bolt right to it.

ehem, I have built RX-2 carbs back in the days for my 13-B streetports, 80's to be exact, so I know how it runs ehemmmm. I've also owned RB holley's, dellorto mikuni and weber sidedraft (45 and 48), but there is no comparison to an IDA specially on the tuning part. You can bolt on any carb but there is a difference between "it runs" and "runs very well." In addition, look at the thread....it says GSL-SE, in other words, this is not a 12-A. Tuning a 6port is very different from a 4port. Besides, you have to make a custom manifold OR use an adapter plate to make it work. Now, let me ask you this, why dont you take a trip to LALA Land and bring me your sterling carb. I have 2 identical cars with identical motors. Pick either one and install your sterling carb and tune it, then we line up.

based on that, you just lost your credential GSL-SE came with a 6port motor. The intake manifold's bolt pattern and manifold design are different from an old school 4port 13-B. now, lemme educate you. Take the red pill and then read my prior post.

Ok you fund my trip and I'll show up in two weeks :P My money is going towards my car. And yeah, I forgot the GSL-SE was a 6-port. So sue me, I own a 12A. I rarely ever read anything threads regarding the SE. Perhaps this is why I should start.

Also I was unaware I had any credentials to begin with. I may have a lot of posts, but most of them are smartass remarks. Perhaps I'm a post ***** in training.
