Question Help! Leak in front bodywork...

Now I've done a search, and no luck so far, so can anyone help with this?

The problem: Water trickling in to the drivers footwell and pooling under the pedals. Mines a 1984 12A, and RHD. And living in sunny (not) Northern Ireland, water leaks ain't fun LOL.
I've ripped the carpet out, and it seems that the water is coming down the right angle where the firewall that the pedals bolt to meets the side panel next to the gas pedal (RHD car). Theres a bit if surface rust but I can't crane my neck up too far cause of the sound-deadening crap bolted on with the pedals.
Anyways, put water down the drainholes (trusty garden hose) that run from under the wiper motors (in the corners) and the water seems to come out under the car ok but also seems to make water trickle into the footwell.
The question: has anyone had this problem before and how did you fix it? Is there a drainage tube from these drain holes or is it just a channel running down inside the bodywork?
I don't want to take the fender off without knowing what I'm getting myself in for!

Sorry to be so long-winded but hope that I can use your guys experience to give me some assistance!

Dave

Mine isn't the heater core. That's the first thing you should look at though...

The drain hole test giving you both under-car and in-car dripping could mean that you have a drain hose that split but didn't entirely break.

Mmmm, I'm not sure that the drain hole even has a tube inside it. It doesn't appear in the VB catalogue and the opening into it from under the wipers seems to pretty big diameter.
Still, can this area be accessed by pulling off the fender or is it more complex?

Cold and wet feet...

Doesn't seem to be heater core as flow of water seemed to coincide with the hosepipe trick. Are Revhed and I the only ones with this problem?

I've got it too...I haven't looked at it yet, but assumed it was a leak around the front glass...
