Help With Installing Kerkey Seats
I just bought two Kirkey seats with their brackes and Sparco sliders. However, I soon realized that this setup doesn't work as the FB floorpan is not flat and the Sparco sliders are too wide.
One of the seats that I took out was a Corbeau and it has a bracket made for the FB. I would make the Corbeau bracket and slider work for the kirkey seat if I bolted a 17x14 sheet of aluminum to the top of it and then mounted the kirkey brackets to that. However, I only have one and I would prefer a better mounting than that.
Anyone with any suggestions of where to buy and what to get?

To get a better idea about what I am talking about, I found the Corbeau bracket and slider:

Now, my idea is to mount a sheet of diamond plate aluminum across the top as the bracket is more narrow than the kirkeys, and then screw the kirkey brackets into the diamond plate.
Anyone have a better idea or experience?

I used the original sliders and just ran a couple of 1 inch square tubing across between the bolt holes and just bolt the seat directly to them. and you want to cut the front bottom squared edge of the seat so the bar fits inside, and it fits perfectly. thats how i did it but if you use the original sliders w/out cutting, the top of the seat will hit the roof.
If the gap between the rails and the seat bolts is fairly close, (less than 1" each side), then use 3/16" steel bar stock. If under 2" on each side, use 1/4" steel bar stock. 1-1/2 to 2" wide.
I used the stock rails on the driver's side and welded in brackets across to bolt the seat on. The passenger side hasn't been done yet though, that's going to be harder. Any ideas from you all?
Your idea of using the aluminum plate sounds a little scary to me. I've heard of people dying in wrecks because they used some sort of hack-job to mount their aftermarket seats and they failed. I'm all for doing things yourself, but make sure to either use the factory mounting locations or either find someone to weld & reinforce wherever you want to mount.

The plate wouldn't be a bad idea as long as it's thick enough and strong enough. Use washers where needed and it shouldn't be an issue. The seat rails and mounting points aren't all that thick either.

Well, what I did is I mounted it on aluminum plate on top of the Corbeau bracket and slider. I did not have the original factory slider as the car came with one race seat and and a stock seat. I ordered another Corbeau bracket and slider for the passanger side so I will mount that when it comes in.
The aluminum plate is about as thick as the Kirkey brackets, but just to be safe, I doubled it and used wide washers. The end result is very sturdy and a little heavy. I am also running the required back brace that is mounted to the roll bar which will provide another attachment point. I am using six-point harnesses so I think the car will fall apart before I go anywhere.
I will post pictures as soon as I can get them off my camera.

Here is what I ended up doing. It is very sturdy and the six point will be mounted to the frame.
