Help with fuel pump relay.
Well I was cruising down the road the other day when my car started bogging and then died. When I tried to re-start it i realised the th fuel pump was not turning on (no clicking). I stretched a piece of ire from my pump to a fuse block that becomes hot once I turn on the key and my pump fired right up and I was able to drive home.
I looked through the Chiltons manual that I have and found my Fuel Pump Cut Relay and pulled it out and set in a jumper to trick the car to think that the relay was there and actuated, and my fuel pump turned on.
So that all tells me that My relay is shot. Ok. Napa, Kragen, Autozone, Pep Boys all dont stock this relay. Mazda willl special order it for me for $48.00 and it will be here in one week. I dont like that.
Here is my thought, tell me if youagree or not. There is a hotrod store here in town that has a GM 20amp relay for 15.00. Im thinking about just getting that and building a harness that will hook it into my stock harness under the dash (baically 5 wires with male spade on one end and a female spade plug on the other).
Does that sound safe and like a good Idea? I just dont wanna spend the 48.00 for a stock Mazda relay. So Im acheap bastard. I can live with it. I just dont want any little fires starting under my dash.

No Yoga, just a fitcloser to a monkey than most on te old evolution scale.
Myair duct is not in the way in the sligtest. I just sit on my door sill trim, lay back on the seat and slide my head uder my steering wheel to the floor. it works, but every once in a while I get stuck. thats whe my kind wife come out with te camera toget pictures and laugh rather than help me get out. I got to spend the night there once when she was gone for thenight. let me tel you it was NOT fun!!
good luck. if you need clearer pictures or better ones of something else just let me know.

My fuel pump relay went out and I just put a jumper wire across it and it worked fine.
The manual will show you what wires to put the jumper on.
In the hayes manual it is in chapter 13 on page 253.
