Help finding easy bolt on's

Hi,
I have actually been on the forum for a while but as you can see from my profile that I don't have a rx-7 but I'm thinking about getting an FD3 after I pay off my GSX. Well my brother just got a 1st gen and since I everything I have ever owned has been modded he asked if I could help him mod it a little. So I'm looking for some help just finding some more places to get some bolt-on's and what bolt-on are better than others.

The car is an '84 GSL-SE with the 13b in it and I've only found 1 place that sells an intake/muffler for it.

I'm actually looking for an intake and cat-back.
The intake that I found is a Bonez intake but I don'e go for just replacing the muffler and leaving all those resonators and converters in there to restrict flow.

Also if anyone has a good tech/faq on the car would be of help.

Thanks,
Adam

There's lots you can do, but it'll usually be custom, or universal appication parts.

However there are soooo many power tricks, without spending alot of money.

The GSL-SE was a wise choice, LSD rear end, and bigger brakes, 4 wheel disc and solid suspension.

Check the second gen forum for engine mods cause the 86-92 n/a motors are almost the same as the '84.

The motors are actually different, the intake ports are slightly different and the exhaust ports have "sleeves" in them. I would suggest making your own custom exhaust like i did. www.racingbeat.com is where i bought my header. www.racingpipes.com for a midpipe and i had a shop custom make a cat-back.

use a flowmaster or magnaflow 2 into 1 collector. they are well designed with big collection chambers. don't let the exhaust shop fab a collector for you, they suck and are poorly made typically with crimp bending and large angles of convergence.

If you're looking for exhaust for the 1st gen Rx7, look no further than www.racingbeat.com

Their exhaust systems have a reputation of being the *only* exhaust system you want to use, unless you don't have the money and just put a straight piece of custom pipe. They've been known to free up 20ish horsepower, just by their bolt-on install!

There are alot of things you can do to these cars, and starting with a gsl-se, you already are a step above. I don't know the fuel injected mods as well, but feel free to do a search and look for anything you can find. Simple mods like an electric fan and removing the air pump (when you remove the cats) can free up a few hp, and they're cheap. There is much you can do to improve the suspension. Racing Beat (RB) makes the best sway bars, and springs you can find. Tokico or KYB both make good gas shocks/struts to improve the ride and handling of your car. Search up MSD ignition, and you'll find a great mod for your ignition system that helps HP alot

Good luck

Jon

Cool thanks alot.

Hey Jimmy54 the car looks really good I was just wondering how much of the 5.0 bumper you had to cut out of the middle to make it fit. And where you got your front bumper.
