Question Help FC guy talk his friend into getting a FB

So one of my friends is looking around for a project/weekend fun car. I'm trying to talk him into getting a FB, but I need a little info.

1984 GSL-SE
Targa 7
White with red interior
79,8xx mi
Needs LF fender

Are there any FB specific things to check for when buying one? So far I plan to check compression, do a coolant seal test, check for rust underneath, etc.

Also, what do you think this car is worth, I'd rate it a 7 out of 10. Straight body(besides fender), decent paint, good interior.

Any input would be great.

Most of what you already know bout you FC, will apply to the SE 13b FI. Check the engine for the same things as an FC. 6th ports, pulsation dampner, vac lines, etc.

Rust is the biggie. In your area of the country it may not be bad, but check everywhere for it anyway. It will make or break the car, literally. Rockers, inner rear fender wells, inside the bins and where the control arms attach.

The rest is the usual mechanical checks, brakes, tranny, clutch, lsd, electrics.....................etc.

I never see 1st gens go for much it seems like...which is good for the buyer, but a pity for the car at the same time...KBB.com for my area only valued it at $1200-1600.

The fact that it has low miles is a good selling point. If it was an SE, excellent condition, with those miles, it could be easily worth $3000 or more. If the condition is not so good, then I would say about $2000 tops.

A member on this forum (riofrio) sold his SE in your area (TN) for $1500. It probably had twice as many miles as that car though. As they say, the value of the car is only determined by how much someone is willing to pay. For instance, nice SEs typically go for well over KBB value.
