Oh the smell of PB Blaster... reminds me of when I first started tearing the car apart.

you could use a bolt that is the same diameter and put it in the dowel, then use pliers to pull it out. That should keep the integrity of the dowel. I hope.

or try the grease trick

Yeah, they really suck to get out if you don't have the right tools. I wish I wasn't stupid and lost them.

Do you guys think I could get away with just using some hollow stock that is the same diameter and cutting it to the right height?

I don't see why not. I will try again when I get back home from work. The bolt I have is perfect for it, but I cannot seem to get more than 1/4 of a thread to screw in before it strips itself out.
