Help with Carb situation

I have an 85 Gs that is all stock. I wanted to get a new carb for it like a edelbrock or holley. I was wondering if those would work on the car and what kind like a 500cfm or what? I know on the nikki there is all kinds of stuff. Would all that have to be mounted on the new carb? I really would appreciate any feed back.

racing beat uses the 465 holley and many like it, others have used the 500 Edelbrock. with both of those, emissions stuff is gone and you will either need a new intake manifold or an adaptor, if you can find one.

Ok that's cool. Do you know of any step by step way to remove the emission stuff?

Its in the archives.
You need to upgrade to a performance exhaust before you change carbs.

Well, you don't need to, but you're not going to see significant gains from a carb upgrade without opening up the exhaust.

Ok. Let me rephrase it. It's a waste of time and money if you do not upgrade to a header exhaust system.
