ok here is my prob my girls fb

i noticed when i put the new fuel filter it pumped fuel constantly when the key was in the on position when the key was off the fuel would stop pumping would the new fuel filter work too good? cause its the correct replacement for her car. the carb was rebuilt by a friend and he got it tuned right .but i noticed the carb gets flooded with the new fuel filter but the old fuel filter didnt do that....any ideas anyone???

 

Your carb must be stuck open.. the fuel pump is electric and runs whenever the key is on. you need to check the carb and make sure it is in the return/idle position.. it may need a power valve or the float has a hole in it.... if it is in the return position and this is still happening you probably need to rebuild it..

 

Check wiring for a short causing it to keep running, the wires come through the floor under the storage boxes and the wiring tends to corrode in this area.

Test the positive wire at the pump with the ignition off to make sure its switching.

 

Check your needle and seats make sure their not sticking
