Hello, New FB Owner Here
Hello, I am the proud owner of a new to me Ocean Blue Metallic 1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL with a 12A and automatic. I just picked it up today. I am new to rotaries but have wanted one for years. I'm nt new to Mazdas as I have a lightly modded (intake, exhaust, struts, springs, rear swaybar, etc.) 2002 Protege5 that is my daily driver and autox car. I discovered the RX-7 by accident, I was told that it was $100, had a bad motor and had been parked for 10 months, so I went to go look at it not expecting much, It turned out to be $200 and while the motor isn't running, I don't think it has any of the signs that a blown rotary might exhibit (the coolant and oil are fine) I have read the FAQ and am going to try the starting a sitting rotary as soon as it's not so cold up here. The body has very little rust, I was blown away by the shape of the body, it does have some slight front end damage, the hood and driver's side fender. So if anyone knows where I can find an Ocean Blue hood and fender within a day's drive of Toronto, let me know. I'm not sure of my plans yet, other than changing it over to a 5-speed.

Ironically, I have an '85 GSL with no squirters--- because it came up from California about three years ago. However, it does have (or did have) power steering--- an option that wasn't available in Canada but was available state-side on GSL-SEs and the 12A-powered GSL "Limited Edition." (Not to be confused with earlier '83 limited editions, which came with 14" BBS (or Riken?) rims). The only thing that separates mine from other GSLs is the power steering and the "Limited Edition" badges on the B-pillars. Whoop-dee-do.
