heating system removal...opinions??

So another thing that i've been contemplating is removing my heating system from behind my dashboard. I have to drain my coolant system because of a bad Water Pump, so I'm thinking that I might want to get rid of all the plumbing, heater core, controls, etc. for the heating system. I never drive it when it's cold out, and if it's cool, the heat from the engine and exhaust keep me nice and toasty (RB exhaust, no carpet or insulation, e-fan). The only reason why I am thinking about keeping it on is if my car starts to heat up, I can turn on the fan and draw some heat out of the system with my heater. Poll is up, and any advice would be very helpful.

Thanks.

Jim

The heating system also includes the defrost function which is a major safery function. Without it you cannot defrost the windshield. Do not remove the system.

but if the car never sees cold weather, or rain for that matter, when will it ever fog up/frost up?

It will fog up when you least expect it. Do you have state inspections where you are at?

Keep the heating system. It's quite easy to have the windshield fog up when least expected. If you're that desperate for an extra 1/2 hp gain in performance, look else where that doesn't compromise safety. Even track/race cars keep the heating system to defog the windshield in most cases.

I agree with Ray, removing the heater system is nuts. Increased performance requires increased safety factors, don't compromise it. Want to reduce weight, remove the seat belts, that makes as much sense as removing the heating system.

Since this is a safety issue and I have allowed opinions to be voiced. As you can see the veterans have spoken.
