Headlights won't go down, or turn on

I found a similar problem like this in the archives.. but it was solved and it didn't solve my situation

I switched to a 2nd gen fuse box in place of the fusible links.. it has worked on this system, since I pulled the old engine and reinstalled the new one, headlights no longer work. its hooked up correctly at the fuse box, and the fuses are good

I checked the under dash fuses, and they are all good.. all my brake lights, and running lights, signal lights all work like they should, I just need my headlights to turn on or go down, hopefully both

I wanna get this fixed tonight, it's most likely a simple little thing.
No one has had this problem?

I had the same problem and it was my fuseable link too. under the hood, not under the dash.

Trace voltage back from the motors... odds are the combo switch, but there are several candidates.

Does the 85 have the manual headlight override switch on the console, as the SA's do?

After I installed my manual override switch, my headlights would go down when turned off. Is yours disconnected or always in the up position?
