MO Headlight Surprise

I recently picked up an '83 GSL on eBay with 29k. Cool little car that really just needed freshening up. I brought it home and pulled it off the trailer and noticed the lights didn't raise real far. I got out and checked...and found it had square headlights. Ha...never seen that. It's a nice setup. Hella glass lights and it has black side panels on the sides of the headlights. They put out great light. Not sure if they are sealed beams or have replaceable bulbs...BTW, those horrible fog lights went in the trash right away.

Dude, those custom fog lights were VINTAGE Mazda J-spec only, factory installed hard to find parts that would have brought about $850 on the collector market!

(just kidding!)

Very strange conversion on the headlights, however - and I have to say I'm not a fan. Congratulations on the find, however - and keep us posted as you clean it up and get it running. Take care,

I'd have to agree on the looks. I'm a fan of the round lights. However, I will say these lights put off a better light pattern and are significantly brighter than the stock Halogens.

Stock they didn't have halogens, just sealed beam 7 inch round headlights. It would
be easy to convert to an H4 setup using the BlackDragon harness. Would also fix
any issues with the old harness and the lights.

Wonder what kind of horrors await you on the electrical after seeing the aftermarket
lights on there.

Moar pictures!

The fogs were wired fine using a proper relay. The horror was the old alarm that was on there...had to soldier up one wire in the main harness to remove it. Had a massive hood lock on it...

That's cool! Big points for uniqueness, looks like a pretty clean install too!

Popular mod-kit back when these were new....
If the lenses are Hellas then they are halogen. But as others say here, they put quite a draw on the stock light circuit so a relay for these would be smart. And the Blk Dragon kit is prob the cleanest way to do this.

Turns out they are Cibie lights. The angle of the pic makes it appear that they are aimed down, but they are installed and aligned straight.
