Head Unit with red lights?
I am looking for a CD player to put in my 85 GSL-SE. I just purchased the car but there is no radio at all at the moment. I really like the red dash guages and i want to install a CD player that has red lights to match the stock dash lights. Most CD players have blue lights. I think it really clashes with all the red. I want a good quality CD player. My only requirements are that it has three sets of RCA outputs so I can individualy control front, rear, and sub outputs. I am planning on intsalling a full sound system with two amps. Price is not a concern but I am only looking for a CD player. I don't need DVD playback or navagation. That is out of the price range I am looking for right now, but I would consider it if that was all i could find with red lights. Thanks for the help!

I would recommend checking out blaupunkt. Most of them have selectable display colours, although I'm not sure if that goes for the larger blue buttons or just the screen or both.

Thanks for the advise. I looked at some of there units on the internet and that seems to be just what I need. I have never heard of this brand though. How do they compare to more common brands such as Pioneer, Sony, Clarion, etc... I am also willing to take any additional advice from others.

Blaupunkt's are excellent, they are high quality and have a really easy to use interface. My brother has one in fact, my dad has a pioneer which has honestly been dreadful, not sure of the model or anything but knowing him it is probably there cheapest.

I think I'm going to go with the Blaupunkt. I have e-mailed them and am waiting for a response on which models have all red lights. It looks like their top of the line model is the only one with adjustable button lights and it is about $500 but it would be worth it. I'm also installing a full system so I need a quality head unit.

if you want something cheap go with the Durabrand DB1210 from walmart i believe, i've had this head unit for about 3 years and it still works great, plus its really easy to manage, it's cd/am/fm only with an amp rca output but for 50 bucks i think it's great, plus it's got the exact same orange first gen glow!!!

blaupunkt is STILL hugely amazing products, even for us young folk under 25 who know anything about car audio.
its just not as common as alot of the top 5 names.
sony imo isnt great but its cheap. alot of head units come with adjustable color displays, unfortunately they arent as common now as they were 4 or 5 years ago though. all the companies are trying to simplify their units (i.e. single color display, non motorized eject functions)

Well, I can't do the WalMart brand because I have to have front, rear, and sub outputs. Thanks for the continuous advice. I'll probably go with the blaupunkt but i'll look at the alpine first. I'll be back from Iraq in two months so I'll be sure to post pics once I get everything together and installed.

Looks Bad ***. It's Old-Skool with a modern twist. I like the Bluetooth/HD Radio/iPod options too.
I had the CDX-MP70 (and MP80). It was an okay radio, no frills. Just MP3 capability. I bought it because it looked truly Old-Skool, with minimal buttons. But it does have eight different color combinations.
Today, I'd definately get something that really works well with an iPod.
MP80 (Currently installed)
