Talking having trouble keeping rubber

does anyone else have as much trouble keeping rubber on their car? i used to burn up a set of new econo tires in 3-4 weeks. now i get used tires that the pawn shops are throwing out, etc... they tend to last a week or two. this isn't realy a question, just thought i would post to see what everyone elses tire experience is. of course i havent quite mastered taking off without smoking the tires either lol. j/k

what you can do is go to pepboys and get a set of there 50,000+ mile tires and when you eat throught them just take them back and get a new set free. as long as you dont put 50,000 miles on them. just go back and say there defective. worked for me twice.

*note* i do not advise any one to take this advice, its just a suggestion. i dont know if that is considerd an illigal action. use at your own risk.

Do you just do brakestands all day long? 3-4 weeks for a set of tires is BRUTAL.

Really.. what the hell are you doing to those things? I've got extremely cheap Goodyear Viva's on mine and they've been on the car for three years...

he he he, some people say i push vehicles a little too hard. my response is normaly something like " you have to test the limits to know the limits " there is normaly lots of tire smoking involved in my driving. break stands, yep i do those a few times a day. that could also be the rearend problem. it costs money, but what is life without fun ?

If yur gonna play hard, you have to have the right equipment. "Econo" tires aren't made for that and used throw-aways are already worn to hell. Get some good meat on your wheels, get them balanced, and get an alignment done. My Radial TA's have been on for a few years and I've been known to smoke'em now and then.

There's a difference between exploring the limits of a car and doing stupid **** to break it. If your idea of "fun" is powerbraking and tire smoke, perhaps you belong in something more suited to idiot fun.. a third gen Camaro comes to mind... oh and, hey, you're in the right locale for those...

Once you know the limits there's little reason to keep testing them. I don't think I could go through a set of tires in a month (r-compound, yes; street radials, no). I have my fair share of fun, but two of the original Pirelli P6's were just taken off last August at 82K.

This does explain how you've gone through, what is it, six differentials?

haha, its so true, thats what 99% of the third gen f body owners do, burnouts, burnouts, and more burnouts. I used to do that stupid **** before i had my licence, once i got it I realized how dumb it is. Anyway, back to the topic, I have the cheapest pos tires on my car right now, and they've been there since May, when I got them for free from inittab, and who knows how long they were on his car. They have a ton of tread left on them too, and still work. I'll admit they suck in the handling department (can you say sidewall flex?) but they get relatively good grip in rain and snow and ****. Your definatly being way to hard on your car going through tires and rear ends like that. How many clutches have you grenaded?

Dude... There's a defenate problem with your car that's causing that... It's also causing your rear ends to break and much excess driveline wear. It's very unsafe and can lead to permanent damage if you don't fix it... The problem is a loose nut, It's between the seat and steering wheel.

Seriously dude. If you can't take off without peeling out, you should look into an automatic, or leaving the driving to qualified people like the bus or taxi drivers.

Goto an open parking lot and practice launching. Control and coordinate your clutch and gas feet. Learn to drive a stick carefully. Try it ten or so times in a row, then goto a hill and try it uphill.

Peeling out in many areas is considered reckless driving. (Ask me how I know... I ended up reducing the ticket to Improper driving... $130 fine, 3 points for 3 years...Reckless is double all that. And the lawyer was expensive too.)

Seriously dude. I don't wanna bash on you, but peeling out gets old. Maybe every once in a while, a burnout is cool, but if you do it all the time, It's stupid... Unless you like any of the following:

Replacing drivetrain parts frequently
Reducing the spare parts cache in your area
Mounting tires weekly
Looking like a fool
Funding the pigs
Picking your car up from impound
Causing accidents (If done on wet ground or around curves.)

Seriously dude. It's not worth it, even if it feels cool... It isn't... Plus peeling out wastes like two seconds on your quarter mile time.

How can anyone afford to burn gas in these times and not be moving, thats 0mpg! I adopted gas milage protcol at $1.50+ as critical to keep the car moving whenever its running at mostly highway speed and avoid gas wasting situations in town(s). When prices are down, all bets are off, but still avoid excessive wheel spin except on very rare occucation.

Its hard to keep tires from breaking loose on a bridgeport because it wants to launch hard or bog if the tac is too low when engaging the clutch. Good reason to go back to a stock/mildport in $40+/barrel of crude situations. Hurry up and get desert-storm II over and we hopefully go back to sub $20/barrel.
