Ahem...what are storage bins, exactly
Sounds stupid, but I always thought my SA had so-called "storage bins". Now a couple of times I've heard that '79's didn't have those...What I'm getting at is this: Behind the seats, I have two flip up "doors" with ***** on it. (Mounted into the "doors" are speakers). Inside, there's what I considered the storage area...that's where the amp is, along w/ misc. crap...cables, gloves, etc. So, that's not stock? Are storage bins two actual compartments (seperate) on later models? Just curious more than anything, because I always hear of storage bin rust/water, and removing them to check for rust.

The storage bins on the later cars are plastic bins that drop into rectangular holes cut into the sloping wall just behind the seats. The '79's didn't have them, but the previous owner of my '79 just cut a hole out of the wall and made a door to use the space underneath. Sounds like the previous owner of your car did the same.
Later model owners have to remove the plastic to check the metal underneath for rust.
