having Fuel psi problem

my fuel psi is droping off if i try to hold it at any rpm it it starts to drop off a lil from idle... i have a clear fuel filter its clean... its got a aeromotive fule pump and aeromotive FPR. turn the key on it gose to 6 psi start the car it starts to drop...

so i thought the tank was dirty and the screen in the tank was cloged.. well droped the tank and it looks clean i blew air thru the tank to get anything out of the screen that may have been there.. the tank is still jsut as clear as it was....

any ideas?

ps.. i also have a plx wide band and it shows it starting to run lean when i hold it at a stedy rpm..same time as the gauge is going down so the gauge is good....

also i checked over the lines no kinks or bends.. and the soft lines are not pinched

One of the 1st gens I bought started up and idled fine. The PO replaced the fuel filter and pump. Problem was, as soon as one touched the gas pedal, it died. Took me the longest time to chase down the problem. Turned out the filter screen in the tank had split and the pickup tube was full of rust. It was open just enough for idle, but not more.

Only way I could clean the rust out of the pickup tube was to sandblast it, compressed air didn't do poop.

On the S3 fuel tanks, the pickup, return and vent lines are removable unit. On the earlier tanks, they are brazed into holes punched through the tank. It was quite by accident that I found the restriction.

If you have an older tank, find a guitar string, a thick one, push it through the tube, then chuck the string in a drill and spin the it to clean out the tube.

ok put it back together and i think i got it to stay at 6.5 psi... when i 1st turned it back on it went to 15psi woot never did that b4

so i droped the tank found out that the sending unit is not removable... didint see to much of anything in the tank.. so i got the air hose and made it so it would blow all the aire thru the feed tube...(blew air backwards thru it)..... then i unhooked the line going to the FPR hooked the like to a gascan and turned the pump on and blew air from the back of the car to the from thru the fule line... not sure witch 1 helped me out but i have psi again wooot

now if the car dosent start to work right i may have to sell it....errrrr j/k
