Have you checked your dizzy lately?!
A while back I was experiencing trouble with my 85 GSL.

After several attempts of finding a solution, I was about to give up on her. Finally, I pulled the dizzy to see if everything checked out. I found out a couple of things.
1. The vacuum advance diaphragm on the secondary was leaking and didn't work.
2. Both vacuum advances rotate the magnetic pickups in the dizzy head (this is also true of the advance weights). The magnetic pickups move on a large thin ball bearing. Over the years, the grease in the bearing had hardened and was acting more like glue than grease.
So, after a quick tear-down, cleaning, and re-grease, it ran like a champ. If you are experiencing issues where the car wants to die on take-off (no advance?) look into your dizzy and see if its gummed up. It fixed my issue.
PS. Sorry to say that shortly after I fixed this problem I sold the car. It sure was fun to drive!

Good advice; make sure you use a plastic-safe grease on it, too, as the bearing separator in the pickup assembly is a plastic like nylon or maybe delrin.
The mech advance assembly can benefit from a cleanout and regrease every few years, too - - but that takes a bit more work as you have to pull the reluctor and the drive gear off.
