I was wondering since the strut bolt patterns are the same that a strut bar made for a 2nd gen should fit a 1st gen right? I know the 1st gens are an inch or so less wide overall than an FC, but can you adjust the bar enough to compensate?

t_g_farrell (Tim) has. The 2nd gen bar will not work with a first gen unless you relocate the alternator.

EDIT: I believe he got the bar from Amazon for like 25 bones too! Looks nice.

Double EDIT: Here ya go:

bullshit, some do fit. it depends on the bar you use. I ran a Tanabe strut tower bar for a FC on my FB for years. The strut patterns are not the same, you have to oval out the holes to fit the fb strut top pattern...

That one in the links that Jeezus pointed to would probably work if you
had an alternator in the stock location but you would have to reverse it.
You'd also have to NOT be running the stock air cleaner as well. Its still
for sale on Amazon, same price. All I had to do was take my dremel to the
holes and slightly bore them out to get them to fit the strut studs. I also
put some washers under the mounting plates to clear the strut seams.

I figured you'd have to take a big drill bit and bore them out. I have 2nd gen strut top covers and they fit quite well.
