GSLSE fuel gauge took a dump/

me thinks the gauge unit crapped out. we where messing with the gas tank and when we started the car again. oh look the gauge didnt work. We drove it and sometime after hard corning it comes back on for a little bit. But now it doesnt even do that. The screws holding the thing in are all kinda of rusted so i want to get a replacement and just do this out right because i doubt the one on there now will survive coming off. (ps...anyone have a working GSLSE gauge unit?) Not sure but did the 12a tanks use a different gauge? And there is this spare wire, kinda red that doesnt connect to anything coming off the string that connects to the gauge unit. what does it do...?

Clean the contacts at the tank thoroughly first.

if the sender has to be replaced, what are my options?

Mazdatrix carries the fuel sender. It's 100-125 bucks, who knows what the dealer wants. From seeing j9fd3s's other posts, you can bet that is the correct part #. The sender has 3 wires, 1 for fuel level, 1 for the low fuel light and a ground.

Is their a way to ohm out the sender to see if it's good?
