GSL weight?

I have an '84 GSL with a full interior:pwr mirrors, pwr windows, sun roof, rear wiper...etc. I always thought that it weights around 2385 lbs. But i was looking on the drivers side where the door is and it says that the GVWR weight is 2865 or something . Can it really be that much??

If that is waht the door it's probably what it weighs. Take it to a scale and weigh it. That will answer all of your questions

I took my GSL-SE to the scales and it weighed 2400lbs.
I don't have the original 13B motor in it, I've got a 12A in it, so I guess it's only a GSL!

I guess i should take it to a scale also. There is no way that car weights 2865 lbs.

Gross Vehicle weight is the manufacturer's suggested fully loaded vehicle weight. I don't know how they calculate it but it's not the weight of the car.

Hell no. No way it can way that much. That's like heavier than my mom's caprice classic that I've nicknamed "the tank". Like Purple82 said, that's probly the gross weight, not necessarily the weight of your car.

yeah, thats the maximum weight, fully loaded that the car is intended to be capable of handling.

Since the stickers also say Maximum Capacity - 350lbs...That would be, uhh...2515lbs. I'm also assuming thats weight with a full tank of fuel, which, would bring the car's weight down to 2400 something.

Which, seems right, compared to most threads about curb weight on a 1st gen.

I went to a couple scales and found it to be the same with me in it and ~1/2tank fuel. 2350lb's. So I know the scales were both pretty consistent.
