GSL vs. SE sway bar size?

In the stock autocross class, it is allowable to upgrade the size of the front sway bar. Hence, I am looking into affordable alternatives for this on my 85 GSL.

According to what I have read (no real experiences yet) taking off the rear sway bar and increasing the size of the front, with poly bushings, is the way to go.

So, is upgrading to an SE sway bar an option? I can then get the poly bushings for that sway bar, take off the rear, put on my Tokico's, and go autocrossing!

Any help/advice from fellow first gen autox'ers is GREATLY appreciated!

TIA
-Jacob (my prior autox experiences have been limited to Mustangs, sorry!)

I believe that the SE front and rear bars are the same as the other models. You may want to read up again on the rules for stock class... I dont think you can remove the rear bar but maybe the tech inspector doesnt know either If so...just keep the old stock rubber ones back there..I've loosened the nuts down to the end of the thread...it makes the rear back less reactionary.

Hehe, I was just under the car thinking the same thing...

It may not be legal, you are right - but I am more concerned with taking advantage of a larger front bar, since it is allowed in the rules...and if a $12.95 junkyard SE front bar is an upgrade, then I'll be all over it!

I really haven't been able to find concrete evidence that proves they are the same, or different...

EDIT: this is Cloud, I forgot to log my roommate off his computer first, DOH!

I think they're the same

I have an 83 GSL and I replaced the rear sway bar with a junkyard SE bar and they looked identical to me. The SE bar wasn't all rusty like my old one though.
