GSL-SE Throttle body issues and power loss.

Well i still need help... I finally got my car started after taking off all the emission. The car was flooded and i jumped it and it seemed to work. It smoked alot since the ATF in the engine. What i have taken off is the BAC, ACV, all the actuators including the sleeves, thermowax from the throttle body and the cold start stuff. My TB is still in pieces and i was hoping that DanielBlakley and Rx7doctor would help me but have not heard back from them. So yeah just need to work on the idle and what not. Thanks

Thanks no i still need lot of help. I finally got it started but i still think the TB is all messed up since i still do not know how to put it together. It is smoking from the ATF and it back fires some as well. It revs really high and then drops and stumps for a little bit and dies. I will post more pics if needed. Thanks a bunch....

I went to start right now and it start up with no problem at all but revs high and have to keep the foot on the accelorator so it does not die. I think it is a throttle body but i will do some more research. It is just hard to find it since i yanked out alot of things but install block off correctly. Thanks

Did you take the T/body apart or remove the throttle plates?

Yes yes i did and i think they are wrong and it was a big mistake since they have a little gap but close to the set screw on the outside. And i did take it apart and try to clean and lub everything i think i messed up on it. Thanks

Steffen,

Bottom line. Post a WTB ad in the classified parts section. Sorry to inform you that once you disturb those T/plates it's all over. I know since I have experimented with that T/body myself. :-)

Good thing is that usually you can pick one up cheap.

Well i got my TB today and installed and it idles like a champ!!! Now when i drive it to open throttle it hesitates and starts to fall in the rpm. But the car will not dye completely at all which is great.... Still need to do more research thanks to everyone that has been helping me.

Steffen,
Thanks for updating us.

Did you leave all of the components on this T/body, meaning cold start, TPS, etc..

The T/B has everything on it, all it needs is the tps to be functional... I know because I put it together and tuned it for him... I sent him a pm as it sounds almost like he forgot to put the tps back on or something maybe ignition as well... His discription is a little vauge so its hard to tell I asked him to describe it better in the pm...

Actually the TPS can be disconnected and it will still run fine. It is when the TPS is set way off or is defective is when it will cause the most problems.

It's possible that he has other issues such as injection related ones.

Sometimes I wish I was within driving distances of most members so I could just go over there and fix it. :-)

yeah same here I would totally drive there to help if I was close enough, and by put it back on I meant that it might be sitting on top of the block unbolted and just pluged in... I know sounds crazy but I've seen it more than once and the synmptoms are kinda like what he is talking about. Injection or ignition also came to mind, but on a GSL-SE usually if injection is a problem idle is kinda shitty, at least in all the cases I've seen, unless maybe the computers wonked out.

Thanks for the help guys. Well i did bolt it up but have not messed with the TPS yet. All the cold start and what not is all gone... I have let it sit for almost a week and it fired up on the first try with out any problem so i think the injectors are ok and not leaking. It idles great and does not stumble or anything. Now i went to test drive it and when i started to move in the upper RPMs it stumbles and dies back down but that does not hurt the idle and it does not kill the car. I am going to test for vacuum leaks with a can of carb cleaner and also look at adjecting the TPS. I have also notice i lost Tq when i elimated the actuators all together. Does not quite spin the tires. I notice that the PO did not have a belt around the PS so i am going to try to get that to work as well. Thanks for all the help guys.... Daniel and Rx doctor.....

yeah without the sleeves you will definatly lose torque best way to go is with pineapple racing sleeve inserts... check the FSM for info about adjusting the tps... once that is adjusted get back to us
