GSL-SE air pump removal?

can i take it off with out the ECU going into limp mode or anything? We dont have emissions here and its my gfs car, basically we dont have a whole lot of money to spend on it and i would like to get a little more power out of it after I get a proper exhaust put on it and put in the MSD 6A.

Any help would be awesomes

Thanks,
Zak

You won't net that much of a gain by removing the air pump....keep an eye on the alternator belt....you may need to get a dual sheive or a yoohoo belt.
One last word of caution... if you disable the air pump before you remove your catalytic converter, it'll clog up.

You're not going to really pick up a whole lot of power by removing the air pump.

If it's your girlfriend's car, you should leave the air pump on there. She probably won't appreciate the backfiring and the smelly exhaust. You can put an exhaust on it, but remember the saying... stay stock stay happy.

well i figure any hp i can get the better, i have never driven a n/a rotary before this one (the only other rotary car i had ever driven and it was only once was a T2 FC with some mods, funnest thing EVAR lol) and it seems like it needs to breathe just a bit better. So I figure an entire new exhaust, an MSD 6A (for easy starting and a little moar powa) and get rid of the air pump to free up the engine a little by not have the lost power from turning the belt and have the engine have cleaner air to burn. I think that should be enough power for now. Later once we have time and money i will build a street ported 6 port 13b and will be shooting for 150-160whp

edit; the exhaust already smells like a 2 stroke and she loved my 2004 2WD dodge half ton with straight pipes so she wont mind the stank or noise lol
