the answer is that the air pump on the GSL-SE does NOT actuate the 5th and 6th ports. the 5th and 6th ports are actuated by exhaust backpressure. there is a pipe running from the main converter to the lower intake manifold. this pipe is called the split air pipe. the backpressure from the exhaust runs up the split air tube to the lower intake manifold to open the 5th and 6th ports.

FWIW, the air pump actuates the 5th and 6th on only the S5 NA models.

oh, and removing the air pump can result in overheating of the main converter and a meltdown of its internals. leave the belt in place until you replace the entire exhaust.

ok thanks, when i replace the exhaust with a road race header and the road race presilencer with the two pipes and silencers that has the small tube on the right one, will it be safe to remove the air pump at that time? or will i still be running the risk of messing up the presilencer too? so in order to do this i dont have to remove anything from the intake? thanks for the great info and help.

you need not even remove the air pump, even with a performance exhaust. as long as you are not running a main cat then you really don't need the air pump per say. you will NEED to run the split air pipe from one presilencer to the intake manifold though. this will ensure operation of the 5th and 6th ports.
