Question gsl-se?

hi, i'm new to the rx-7 community, and i was wondering what are the advantages/disadvantages of the gsl-se vs. any other first gen rx-7.. any input would be greatly appreciated

p.s. - dont go into the motor.. the non gsl-se that i am considering buying has a 13b in it anyway so thats a non-issue

lets see. lsd rear end, better gearing, better 4 wheel disc brakes. i think the suspension is a little better not sure though, just the gsl-se emblem makes the car faster ( i'm gonna put one on my 80- should get 15-20 more hp. lol) depending on the year your lookin at the gsl-se has a great lookin dash display. so there are some starters i'm sure others will have more input.

Also, the SE has different stock wheels than the non-SE models.

1. Fuel injected.

2. 135hp (stock) 13B vs. 101hp for the 12A. (Not sure what a carbed 13B in otherwise stock shape puts out).

3. 14" stock rims vs. 13" for the non-SE models.

4. Bolt pattern for SE rims is 4 X 114.3 (easy to find aftermarket rims for); Bolt pattern for all other 1st gens is 4 x 110--- next to impossible to find rims for.

5. Bigger and better brakes.

6. Rear suspension tweaked compared to other 1st gens.

7. No f%#king choke **** to deal with.

8. If completely stock and in mint shape an SE will be worth way more than a modded 1st gen of any model (including a modded SE)--- even if the modded car is faster.

Get the SE, they are awsome. I just made the jump from an street port 82 gs to an 84 GSL-SE, the difference is amazing. The SE has a lot more power throughout the rpm range. I can actually start moving in first gear without getting on the gas. Not to mention that the interior is hella nicer.

I would get the SE, youll be glad you did.

edit: woohoo 300 posts!

My GSLSE is a 13B 4-port (Engine Swapped) not sure from what however, bought it with it. Does that make me a cheap.......hmm......anyways I find that with a SP on my car it's a hellafaster than a stock gslse. Hella Faster than my friends Prelude hehe. I love it, man with the right tuning on any rotary they can be fast as all get up. I do like EFI however. But I'd prefere Carbed on an rx7. Just my opinion.

yeah, I always used to say I didnt want a computer in my car, but here I am. both of the cars have racing beat exhaust. the street port gs had the stock carb in BAD need of a rebuild and a tune, thats probably why it sucked so much.

I guess I just like the SE better because it dosent feel like its going to fall apart (again, this is because my GS really sucked)

Disadvantages are that the package includes a sunroof, and the stock EFI sucks. Apart from the motor the rest of the differences are actually not that major depending on what your preferences and plans are. You can upgrade any model to better components.
