i did the gsl-se swap into my 85 gs- it's VERY easy...
for the motor mount- just take your front motor mount- make the ears stick out at 90 degree instead of the slight angle it has, and have the creases that are more towards the middle flattened out- i did it with a basic press in 5 minutes- no money spent.
as for carbs- i had a holley laying around from other cars i've built, so i found a used manifold from a local guy for a 6port- i got the manifold for $100.
so the motor cost me 300, the manifold cost me 100, i got a racing beat header for a 12 pack, and to have a complete exhaust system welded up cost me 75. so for just under 500 i got a fire breathing, 105.3 db cop magnet.
as for performance- once i tuned the crap out of the 650 double pumper- it runs like a bat out of hell- if i had done just a bit of port work, keeping up with tII's would be ok (as long as they are stock).
it's kinda fun to build on the cheap- i have other cars i really wanna go broke messing with.

i built my car the way i did on a very tight budget. i got the centerforce dual friction clutch for free with the motor, for cryin out loud....
i haven't dyno'ed the setup yet, but i can tell you that it leaves my buddies gsl-se by about 2-2.5 cars thru a 1/4 mile. he's got a cut-up airbox, drop-in k&n, and racing beat exhaust (the one that stays 2 pipes until the rear axle). some of the distance may be due to the fact that i rev the motor to about 8-8.5k rpm before shifting (stock motor internally- otherwise i'd run it higher)
since i don't have the stock manifold for 2 of the 4 oil metering jets, i'm not running the oil metering pump. i run 2-stroke (2oz for every 5 gallons). you should see the look on the faces of these **** kickers here in texas when you pull up in something that sounds like a pissed off weed-wacker, then preceed to dump 2stroke oil in the gas.
if money was not an object- i'd be running a turbo setup w/ microtech management (another friend of mine is getting 415 RWHP in his gsl-se, so i know the system works)

i'm planning a similar swap, if the parts i want will just quit escaping (damn you hyper4mance). here's my checklist that i've come up with, of bare minimum that i'll need (minus the incidentals that i'll run to the parts counter to pick up or any custom work i'll need to do):
- motor
- fuel delivery (carb or injectors)
- misc fuel system goodies (new pump, filter, lines)
- engine management if using injectors (either stock ecu or standalone ems)
- front mount
- front cover
- exhaust system
does this look more or less complete, or is there anything major i'm missing? i'll be using my 12a drivetrain, so should i be planning on using a 13b flywheel or a 12a flywheel? i think i'm gonna go lightweight, so i need to know what i should buy.

the clutches for the 13b and the 12a are the same- just use the 13b flywheel with the motor you get- the balance will be off if you use the 12a one. i would reccommend having the new flywheel resurfaced and lightened if you have the extra $$- i shoulda, but didn't- sux to be me.
the tranny you have will work just fine (till you start pushing alot of power thru it, or if you try to shift like some ricey honda kid that thinks its fun to just keep the throttle floored.... )
have fun- the 13b is one of the best things i've done for my car (except for the 12a turbo motors i've been coming across lately).......

if you haven't already figured it out, the 12a one does work- it's the same distributor, i think- i used the one from my 12a.
sorry it took me so long to respond, been away from a computer for like a fuggin week.
