GSL Parking brake cables?!

Where can I find the left/right cables that go to the calipers? I can't find a complete set anywhere! All I can find are the ones for the drum brake rears. Not even rockauto has both

I'd give rockauto a call. I looked at their listings for the brake cables, it's confusing but they have a lot of cables listed and it looks like they have both left and right for a rear disc GSL, although you might have to mix brands. They can probably make better sense of it.

Did the cables come with the little pin bit that goes through the hole?

I think one of my original ones was misplaces, and the other one we had to burn out.

umm i didnt buy new ones.. I allready had the cables from my last rear when i pulled them out. Honestly i dont think they will come with new pins. Just get a pin from ace hardware thats cotter keyed and will fit. Or honestly you proly probably use a bolt with a non threaded portion the same length and just double nut it so its not too tight but wont rattle loose.. If u cant find a replacement.

I bought them last month from Autozone. You have to order then separately. They are about $20 a piece. No they did not come with the clevis pins. I spent a good deal of time trying to find the 6mm clevis pin and could not find it. Maybe check with a brake shop for that. Good luck.

I was wondering the same about finding the cables and happened on this thread. I'm doing a GSL rear swap. I'll add any new info on brake cables and pins that I come across to this post.

I did find these Raybestos cables listed here http://www.car-stuff.com/mmparts/maz...ake_cable.html each side sold seprate for $19.99 to $21.99 each.

They have '84 and '85 rear disc driver side. I didn't see any passenger side on it just now. I'm pretty sure it was listed last time I checked it. But that was over a week ago.
I would do as the earlier post said, and check your local parts stores. O'Reilly, Advance and Autzone should most likely be able to order them.
I'm not at the point of ordering mine yet. But I'm just going to check with O'reilly.

They must like you... Last I dealt with rockauto I paid for overnight shipping and placed my order about 10:30AM on a wednesday... didn't get my order till Tuesday the next week, and they only refunded me 1/4 of the shipping costs.

If we make a shipping mistake here where I work, we usually absorb all of the shipping costs, but alas I will try to swallow my pride and order these. Thanks for doing the research man, I'll call myself a lazy asshat for you.

You must have caught them on a bad day. Or maybe you guys up in Minnesota get your mail deliveries a few days later than the rest of us because of the northern latitudes?

Jokes aside, I am always amazed at how quickly my rockauto shipments come in, usually delivered to the door within three days of placing the order online with standard shipping. And I usually get them the second day after ordering, even when I place the order at night. That means if I placed an order today (Thursday) I should get it by Saturday noon or certainly by Monday.

Give it a try, place the order online and select standard shipping, see how it goes and let us know.

Here's a hint: on small ticket items like these brake cables a good percentage of the cost will be in shipping, probably about $11 in this case.

If you order more small ticket items, like fuel filters ($1.29), ignition parts (they've got great prices on denso plugs - $2.36 each, caps and rotors, - tie rod ends, etc, etc, etc it usually adds very little if anything to the shipping costs. They have lots of items for the 1st gen that are "close out" specials at unbelievably low prices, like both inner and outer tie rod ends for $10-$12 each.

Unless it turns out that items need to be shipped from a second location, which you can check by adding things to the cart and then going to check out to see total costs. Play with this calculator and you can be sure to get some really good prices.

And no, I don't work at rockauto or own stock but I am a compulsive comparison shopper and rock auto always seems to win this contest when it comes to auto parts (I still do the cross check however).

The issue with my order was that they printed the shipping labels (fedex) and put them aside for pickup, but they didn't get picked up till 3 days later. Someone somewhere misplaced the box (it was rear calipers.)

Human error, and I completely understand that it happens, I guess what left the bad taste in my mouth was that they weren't willing to absorb more of the cost of their mistake... I mean they got their $200+ for the calipers, surely they could let another $60 slip on the shipping.
