GSL/GSL-SE Brake Line Crush Washer Locations?

Trying to reinstall brakes on a 1985 GSL that I bought with them off the car. I'd been having trouble getting the lines to not leak -- turns out the lines that the PO gave me weren't the right size. So now I've got new lines, but they didn't come with any crush washers.

With the old lines I had, there was still a space in the threads between the flex-line female and the male thread on the hard-line (in the wheel-well). I figured that I would need washers here, so I checked the parts manual for the part number, but noticed it does not show washers here. It also doesn't show washers at all on the rear calipers at all. So according to the parts catalog, it would seem to be:

Washers at location?
  • Front, Caliper Side: Yes (Male thread on flex hose)
  • Front, Body Side: No (Female thread on flex hose)
  • Rear, Caliper Side: No (Male thread on flex hose)
  • Rear, Body Side: No (Female thread on flex hose)

Does anyone know if this is correct? Do I only need to install crush washers as shown in the diagram, or are they supposed to be installed on the other lines too?

As an aside, the Mazda part number for the RX7 FB crush washers is 99562-1000. Also used on Miatas, various Fords, and probably every other Mazda for a long time. The size matches almost exactly with the Dorman 484-180.1 or Dorman 66223 parts, according to the sizes listed on Atkins Rotary.

The only ones the get the washers are the non-flared soft lines. These would be the ones to the calipers and rear distribution block.

Thanks, that resolved my confusion.

Turns out the PO had put some sort of special adapter on the flared hard-line ends to convert it from the standard tube-nut end to just a direct thread that clipped in to the top body clip.

I have no idea how these were supposed to work. I assumed the factory design was just crap and I was supposed to have to hold the entire caliper in my hand while I tightened the other end of the soft line... once I realized the flare end had a normal tube nut, life became much easier. Of course I rounded a nut and now need to re-flare my driver's front line, but that's a story for another day.
