Gsl Ecu

ok..after pondering and trying to figure out just what it is the stock ECU on my GSL does...i unplugged it.

started the car, revved a few times. checked headlights...stereo..gauges...everything works exactly as it did before.

My GSL is carbed, as is all of them....why do you have an ecu? you might wanna plug whatever you unplugged back in

is it an ecu? it would seem pointless on a carb

-i'd toss it if now change....might be important though

Any car with a cberator does not have an ECU no matter which way you cut it.

You could have A GSL-SE that some one carbed, or transplanted a carbed 12A into.

But the GSL with 12A motor does not have an ECU

i think its an emissions thing, atleast thats what i got on all data.

but when i did the wiring part of my motor swap, it was giving certain wires power that shouldnt have it, and vise versa, so i left it in since it was hurting anything.

as much as you might not want to, i would venture over into the torquecentral forums and ask. the guys that swapped out the rotary for other motors had to deal with it, and maybe someone can tell you exactly what it does.

like i said, it wasnt hurting anything, and it was changing power around, so i left it in. i dont really see the need to take it out anyways.

i have no emission controls

update: went for a drive for testing purposes. everything works exactly as it should, only difference noticed...
when you initially turn the key to start the car, you can hear the fuel pump cut on for 2-3 seconds, then cut off. now..it stays on until i start it.

not a problem to me (unbolts ecu and removes from car)
