Ground Control coilovers question

i found them for $189 shipped, but they dont come with the caster/camber plates. is it possible to use them without, i guess use the stock upper spring mount? it seems like the spring would be to narrow for that? maybe another route? or do i NEED the caster/camber plate for the top? i plan to eventually go with that, but i dont have the $$ right now, and really dont want to wait to get them all at once.

Nope you dont need the Caster/Camber plates.... The kit will come with everything needed.

Nope you dont need the Caster/Camber plates.... The kit will come with everything needed.

Just be careful, If your running aftermarket wheels, you run the risk of rubbing on the springs ( i cannot fully lower the springs due to that reason)

Also, There are two kits, one that requires welding, and one that does not.

Jimmy's got it...

you don't need them, but it helps gain a bit more clearance on -SEs with the inner edge of the tire.

also, when you buy the kit, does that include the springs?


rx7gslse - i called that place about the rear coil overs, and they wont have another set for a month. im still debating if i want to go with those, or the rear race springs from mazdatrix with dead coils

Actually, they have 2 different types of upper spring perches, one for and one without CC plates. Call GC and talk to them. The bearings are different if you are using CC plates as opposed to stock plates.

yeah, I saw they said out of stock.. That blows.

eitherway works, I doubt there's really much perfomance difference.

ya i know this thread is out of date...but this worries me

i bought ground control/eibach coilover springs for the front, and the deadwound for the rear, but i didn't get coilover perches, or the top perch for the fronts.....i ended up buying a generic set of coilovers used for a honda civic for 50 bucks, just to use 2 of the coilover perches with the ground control/eibach springs since they are all 2 1/2"....and seem universal

i've been told different things about how to mount the perches, such as just set them on top of the factory spring perch, or cut off the factory perch, and weld them to the strut housing (these are really light...i guess aluminum...which i dont' think you can weld to the strut housing correct???)

but now after reading this thread, my biggest worry is what do i use for the top of the spring? i do have the spring top thingy that came with the coilover set i bought which fits the springs, but will that work with my stock shocks? cuz these little springs are a lot smaller than the factory spring at the top....i dont' know much about upper strut bearings, so i dont' know what im getting into ....WHAT DO I DO!!! (the cheapest way)
